Language Study Log: December 2020 Sample

As someone who was new to learning languages or someone with more experience as I am now, I’ve always thought that it would be interesting to see how someone manages language learning on a daily basis. Language Study Log samples are going to be my way of sharing how I manage language studies and show you on a practical level what you must do to be successful as a language learner.

My goal is to publish the first full week every month of my Study Log that I keep in a Google doc. Starting with the sample from January 2021, I’ll also be sharing some monthly summary data that I’ll calculate and put together in Excel. I’m not publishing the data for December because it’s incomplete as I only started keeping a log on the 6th of December.

The log should be straight forward. The amount of time I spent on activities was not intentional. Each time I study Mandarin with Duolingo I reach 50XP for the language each day and stop; the times are inconsistent because I’m sometimes going over skills for the first time and others, I’m only leveling them up. The amount of time I spend on other activities is simply dependent on factors in my every-day life.
